What will my smartphone look like in 10 years?

The is a war between the hardware companies to see what the next big trend will be. Visuals, speed, cameras, reception, there are several ways to develop the next big trend. So far, three promising characteristics could change how we use the phone nowadays.

• Over-Air-charging.

The current smartphone’s battery life is too short. Even the best ones do not last more than two to three days. Over-air charging will allow the charging of smartphones without any cable or base, allowing the battery to charge while you are inside a room.

Xiaomi and Loxit Products are developing Beta versions, but the process is too slow (around 5W, while most cable chargers are above 28W). For now, the products are expensive to build and inefficient in terms of waste of energy.

• Mind control

We use voice commands to improve AI, but the instruction’s accuracy is far from being exact. The mind-control technology would allow performing each task with just the thoughts, such as editing images or playing games.

Researchers and scientists are making progress in this direction. One example is that Facebook is developing a brain-computer interface to type with your thoughts.

• Phones that are stretchable

Some flexible displays such as Huawei Mate X or Motorola Razr already exist, but now, some companies are looking for not only phones to be able to bend but also stretch.

This could be useful in allowing significant screen devices to be kept in a smaller space even more and could be good for preventing them from breaking.

• AI grids

Sometimes, the actual devices can be cumbersome, but smartphones could not even be like they are today.

Bill Gates has declared that the future of cell phones could depend on electronic tattoos applied temporarily on the skin, with small sensors and trackers that send and receive information.

However, the cell phone has not developed discoveries recently, such as integrating related technologies like the calculator or media playing. So, it is possible to see how this trend continues as its central idea.
